The Premier Difference

The Premier Difference  >  What Makes Our Kite Special

The Premier Difference is Quality!
Premier Kites stands out as a leading authority in the world of kite craftsmanship for several compelling reasons. Our dedication to preserving the dwindling art of back-cut appliqué manufacturing sets us apart, embracing a meticulous process that infuses each kite with a unique touch of craftsmanship and visual impact. This technique creates a breathtaking stained glass effect in the sky, saturating the kite with rich, vivid colors like no other.

Each Kite is Rigorously Tested.
Our commitment to excellence goes beyond aesthetics–every Premier kite platform undergoes rigorous flight testing to guarantee it's not just a work of art, but also one of the finest flying kites in the world. When you choose a Premier Kite, you're not merely embracing a pastime, you're elevating it to an art form, where beauty and functionality converge to create a remarkable, awe-inspiring experience.

A Kite to Suit Every Taste
Collaborating with a diverse pool of artists, Premier Kites also offers a dazzling array of printed designs that are nothing short of spectacular, ensuring there's a kite to suit every taste. Our collection spans a vast range of themes and patterns, making Premier the leader in compelling choices compared to any other manufacturer in the marketplace.

World-Class Artwork
Quality is paramount but Premier Kites is equally committed to artwork. Our talented Graphics team works hard to create spectacular designs that appeal to children and adults alike. Each design goes through a thorough vetting and review process. Premier Kites has licensed designers, such as Barbara Meyer for kites and David Ti for flags, along with four Premier designers who also create our kites, spinners and flags.

Rebecca, the Art Director for Premier, believes strongly in the power of imagination and self-expression at all ages. There is just as much joy to be found in finding your favorite animal on a kite as a child as finding the perfect beautiful flag to wave on your porch as an adult. Connecting to nature is also important to Rebecca, an interest she shows in many of her designs. One of the simplest ways to play in nature is by finding a field and flying a kite.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts, which set the foundation for her expressive creative journey. Along with having studied traditional pottery making in Japan, she has a background in paper cutout art, pet portraits, and painting.

"Premier’s Art Department strives to create products that inspire wonder and capture the imagination for all ages and interests. Whether you’re looking for décor to elevate your house and garden or a kite to fly, we aim to create designs that will brighten your day and transform ordinary moments into magical ones."

Award Winning Kite Expertise
Premier's head of Product Development, Val never settles for anything but the best. With numerous kite building awards from the Smithsonian, local kite events and the American Kite Association (AKA) Nationals, Val has a passion for kites and was classically trained in kite building by the late Paul E. Garber of the Smithsonian Institute. In 2019, Val was honored by being presented the Steve Edeiken "Kite Flyer of the Year" award by the AKA's Association. This is the AKA's highest award presented for a lifetime of contributions to the kite community.

"No other kite products in the marketplace beat the look of our appliqué kites. This "old school" kite craft of back-cut appliqué technique achieves an intensity and level of splendor unmatched by any sort of cheaper printing methods. It is a technique master kite makers around the world understand and appreciate. It is an expertise Premier has perfected and dominated in the industry for over 40 years of kite manufacturing. Most kites look good in a catalog or on the web. But when you look up at the sky, a Premier appliqué kite will broadcast its beauty far above the rest."
